Waqrapukara (old inca temple)

Peru Wild Treks is offering this new route to Waqrapukara ,this trip will take you to a very old temple of the Incas,  because it resembles the horns of a bull, although according to historians the real name would be LLaqta Pukara. This Archaeological Complex is composed of extensive agricultural terraces, in the central part, at the highest point in the middle of two natural monoliths is the most important ceremonial site. From this place you can see an immense and deep valley with extraordinary formations, at the bottom of the valley you can hardly see the Apurimac River. When visiting one simply marvels at the same time the impression and the vertigo takes over the visitors.

The departure time is 4:45 in the morning from Cusco. The  driving  is approximately 3 and a half hours  from cusco to the head of the Trail of waqrapukara . During your trip you can enjoy the beautiful landscapes of these lands. The walk takes 1 hour and a half to reach the archaeological site of Waqrapukara, along your hike  you will see beautiful landscape will surprise you with its extreme formations and in some unusual. Once you get there your guide is going to explaint to you about that place ,then you will enjoy your lunch at the same place once you finish your lunch you will  have  a short break to explore this site on your own ,After that you are going to leave this place taking the same way back to the bus station and then you will drive back to cusco city  ,you will arrive to the city of Cusco around 6:00 in the afternoon.

WHAT ABOUT ALTITUDE SICKNESS?

In general if you have regular exercise and spend a one day in Cusco, or in the Sacred Valley for acclimatisation to the altitude, you will be fine.
The recommended medicine for altitude sickness is WATER, COCA TEA and OXYGEN IF NEEDED; our guides are trained to treat you for Altitude Sickness.

ARE WE DROPPED AT OUR HOTEL AFTER THE TRIP?

Absolutely! Included in our packages is dropping you off at your hotel on the return from your trip. If you have booked your hotel in the Sacred Valley like Ollantaytambo or Urubamba, we will drop you there too!
If you spend the night at Ollantaytambo before the trek, we wil pick you up there.
